IAC relocation and FIAV block-off kit

This is a custom designed IAC relocation and FIAV block-off kit that removes the coolant lines from the throttle body and allows to the idle air control (IAC) servo motor be remotely mounted.

Remotely mounting the IAC motor helps to keep it cool and allows a check valve to be installed to prevent boost pressure and/or methanol from reaching it. Running methanol injection without a check valve usually results in the IAC corroding itself from inside sooner or later (see information further down).

New stainless steel bolts and washers are included for the adapter block which goes underneath the throttle body as the stock bolts tend to strip out almost every time you try to remove them.

Both parts are available separately at 100$ each or for 190$ as kit. If you want to order a set contact us.

IAC motor version

Mitsubishi made two different versions of the IAC servo motor, the older version in aluminum and a newer plastic one.

We therefore offer two different models of the IAC relocation housing.

Model 1: Slightly taller and fits both versions

Model 2: Sits lower but only fits the newer plastic version

Protecting the IAC servo motor from high boost and/or methanol

The IAC servo motors are not fully sealed so boost seeps into them. When using water/methanol injection this causes heavy corrosion. The plastic housing versions of the IAC valves are not only sensitive to corrosion but they also tend to fail from heat on long track sessions as we found out after going through three of them.

Here is how the inside of stock IAC servo motor on our car looked when it failed after running methanol injection for a few seasons.

We solved these issues by relocating the IAC servo motor to a separate housing which keeps it cool. Air is fed to the IAC servo motor from the rear pre-turbo intake pipe and a check valve is placed on the hose from the IAC servo motor to the throttle body ensuring it never sees any boost pressure or methanol (see the diagram below).

Silicone hose, check valve and weldable hose barb for the rear pre-turbo intake pipe are not included as they are readily available on for example Amazon.
